  • GEOGRAPHIC PROXIMITY AND REGIONAL MARKET ACCESS TO THE ASEAN TWO-WHEEL MARKET ARE PROVIDED BY MALAYSIA (MGBF).

As a part of the Kuala Lumpur Bike Show 2023 (KLBS’23) at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTC KL), the Malaysia Global Business Forum (MGBF) organized a high-level industry debate with the topic “The Two-Wheeler Market – Mobility, ESG and the ASEAN Supply Chain.”

During the moderated panel discussion, industry experts shared their insights on the strategic opportunity for Malaysia to be a greater player in the two-wheeler industry in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as well as business prospects for Malaysia especially in the context of the regional supply chain.

It was also identified that with technology trends capturing the media narratives, especially as electric vehicles and reduced emissions technology become more commonplace, the trade and investment opportunities are what business leaders need to understand.

The ASEAN two-wheeler market represents at least 25 per cent of the global market and growing exponentially. From urban planning to environmental, social and governance (ESG), the two-wheeler industry can contribute to this trend and ultimately to the nation’s economy.

The National Automotive Policy 2020 which projects the country’s ambition outward to 2030 mentions motorcycles briefly. This bias towards cars in the policy may need further evaluation as it does not take into consideration the high growth market of the motorcycle market.

Nordin Abdullah, founding chairman of MGBF, said, “We recommend that the National Automotive Policy be more reflective of this opportunity especially because it will allow for the SME manufacturers and distributors to play a more integrated role in the ASEAN two-wheeler supply chain. At the same time, with the ASEAN free trade agreements that are in place, the government has already done part of its work.”

“Success lies in the nation’s ability to be focused and create high value leverage points for investors that compete in a global marketplace. Malaysia must compete and win as an investment destination, and leveraging demands of the two-wheeler industry, this is one sector to pay special attention to,” concluded Nordin.

“Another area we identified is the opportunity in education and safety because it is such a huge challenge. If Malaysia can solve this internally, it could be a leader in ASEAN in this critical issue. This can be an area for export of intellectual property. But any solution needs to be tech-based, private sector driven, public sector endorsed and people-friendly especially in terms of cost to consumers,” said Rizal Kamaruzzaman, co-chairman of MGBF who delivered the welcoming address at the start of the MGBF Industry Dialogue.

Speakers include Dato’ Indera Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad, FASc, president and group chief executive officer of SIRIM Berhad; Murugason R. Thangaratnam, executive director of Novem-ESG; and Rob Cayzer, executive director of Yasaar Global and board member and shareholder of Kitaran Tabah. The discussion was moderated by Gerard Ratnam, TV host and producer of Bernama TV. The session included special remarks from the inaugural Kuala Lumpur Bike Show 2023 organiser, Farouk Nurish who is the director of Moventuum Sdn Bhd.

The Malaysia Global Business Forum (MGBF) empowers stakeholders at the intersection of international and Malaysian business. Through government relations, business intelligence, advocacy, media engagement, market research, networking, advisory and business matching, MGBF delivers results for individuals, corporations, trade and business associations, as well as national and state governments. • RIVERS IN THE SKY, SCHEDULED FOR 1–3 SEPTEMBER 2023 AT PENTAS 1 KLPAC, WILL WITNESS COLLABORATION BETWEEN MASAKINI THEATRE COMPANY AND NOTABLE INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FIGURE, ANA WOOLF.

Masakini Theatre Company’s ambitious new play, RIVERS IN THE SKY, will run from September 1–3, 2023, at Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC), Pentas 1, and it needs the attention of everyone who cares about the serious problem of climate change.

The production is in collaboration with two internationally known and revered names in theatre world, Sabera Shaik of Masakini and Ana Woolf of CATA. Ana Woolf is already in Kuala Lumpur to work with our local actors on this project. An international pedagogue, actress and director who has worked extensively with the much respected Eugenio Barba, Ana Woolf brings with her a slew of techniques – a combination of Eastern and Western techniques and discipline; ideas and an experience of theatre few can match. She has published papers on women in theatre and has translated several books by Eugenio Barba and Roberta Carreri. Woolf is also the Artistic Director of the Magdelena Project in Argentina. While in Kuala Lumpur Ana will be conducting workshops on the Suzuki technique and will also perform her work demonstration to local theatre practitioners. Her passion for the arts has witnessed Ana leading workshops all over the world for more than 20 years now.

According to Sabera Shaik, Co-Director of RIVERS IN THE SKY, “The production is about Mother Earth and how our lives parallel hers yet one can live without the other. That is not a difficult guess to make. Or is it?”

The production’s line-up of actors are Amalina Arham, Leanne Lim, Raja Emy Shahril, Sabera Shaik, Chloe Tan and Tristen ZiJuin. While this is a devised play, there will be elements of shadow theatre and dance and live music by Music Directors, Susan Sarah John, Kent Lee and Thong Yong How of  Shaman Tea Room and Fhrythms Percussion. Anak Borneo Evan Lee will make up the live music group coupled with sequenced digital music incorporating Iban elements in the music which will lend a haunting feel to parts of the production.

The performance is not only aimed at adults who should understand climate change and the harm humans have imposed on Mother Earth. More importantly, Masakini Theatre Company is also engaging school children and youths with a special performance on 1st September 2023. There will be a special workbook that teachers and students can access as part of the souvenir programme. They can further discuss and learn about climate change and its reasons. “I encourage everyone, all members of rakyat Malaysia to come and watch the play not just for its entertainment value but the take-away message that comes with it. It is also appropriate that RIVERS IN THE SKY is staged during the celebration month of Merdeka and Hari Malaysia. On behalf of the members of this production, we thank you in advance for your support” says Sabera enthusiastically.

RIVERS IN THE SKY will be presented in three languages namely English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin.

  • A SUMMARY OF MyCSR INITIATIVES DURING MBEW 2023: PLANTING SEEDS OF COMPASSION AND GIVING BACK

The spirit of corporate social responsibility (MyCSR) showed brilliantly via two noteworthy efforts during the hectic hallways of the Malaysia Business Events Week (MBEW) 2023. As devoted attendees joyfully took part in a life-saving Blood Donation Drive, offering a lifeline to those in need, the pulse of benevolence resounded. But the commitment to making a difference did not stop there. As part of MyCSR’s green footprint, a Tree Planting Activity took root at an ecotourism attraction, Taman Alam, Selangor. Amidst the lush scenery, a hundred trees found their new home, standing tall as symbols of our dedication to the environment and community. These MyCSR activities during MBEW 2023 embody the heart of collaboration and compassion, leaving an indelible mark of positive change within and beyond the event’s horizon. We are delighted with the overwhelming response and active participation from delegates and strategic partners. The tree planting campaign and blood donation drive exemplify our industry’s dedication to making a positive impact beyond business gatherings,” said Datuk Hajah Saraya Arbi, Interim Chairman of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB). She continued, “Together, we’ve proven that business events are not only a platform for growth but also an opportunity to nurture a better future. Through these initiatives, we have collectively shown that business events can be a force for good, contributing to both environmental sustainability and community welfare. Let’s continue to sow the seeds of goodwill, embracing the power of collective action.”

Ending the MBEW 2023 as meaningfully as it started, a tree planting activity was organised in collaboration with Tourism Selangor and its strategic partners namely, Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS), Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad (KDEB) Waste Management, the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) as well as Malaysian Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (MACEOS) to contribute to environmental conservation. The activity was attended by:
    1. YBhg. Datuk Hajah Saraya binti Arbi, Interim Chairman of MyCEB
    2. YBrs. En Zain Azrai Rashid, Acting Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB
    3. YBrs. Encik Mohd Raiz bin Radzuan, (S.I.S, A.M.S.) District Officer of Kuala Selangor

In line with the fulfillment of UNSDG and ESG initiatives, it is only timely that the business events industry gathers to vigorously and consistently work towards protecting, conserving and preserving our mother nature for a sustainable future. As the event concludes, the positive impact on the local community and the environment continued to reverberate, leaving a legacy of meaningful change. • KIM YAP WINS VIVO VISION+ MOBILE PHOTOAWARDS 2023 for “Capturing Malaysia’s Heart Through Lenses”

Kim Yap a mother of four and a mobile photography enthusiast from Malaysia, shined brilliantly as the single Malaysian winner of the vivo Vision+ Mobile PhotoAwards 2023, a mobile image contest jointly organized by vivo and ZEISS. Her captivating photo series named ‘Coffee Life,’ captured with the vivo X80, stood out as one of the 21 award-winning images, garnering the respect of expert judges and propelling her into the limelight of worldwide renown.

Undoubtedly, Kim Yap’s journey epitomises transformative growth. She shared, “Winning this award was beyond my expectations due to the multitude of global submissions. Following my victory, my family and friends rallied behind me, recognizing the importance of my chosen path. This experience made me realise that my photography skills are now receiving support and recognition from others.”

Furthermore, the vivo VISION+ Mobile PhotoAwards, established in 2020, is a distinguished photography contest for vivo users, supported by vivo’s people-centric imaging expertise. Adding to the excitement, this year, vivo has joined forces with its global imaging partner ZEISS to present the Mobile PhotoAwards 2023 under the resonating theme ‘Create Together.’ This contest invites global vivo smartphone users to submit diverse images capturing authentic human emotions.

Kim Yap’s Triumph with the vivo X80

‘Coffee Life,’ a collection of photos shot by Malaysian mobile photographer Kim Yap, has secured a place in the ‘Photo Series’ category among the eight distinguished award segments. The series was taken during her visit to a vintage coffee factory with her friends at Klang, Selangor. She emphasised that the place was filled with light seeping through cracks, creating a natural opportunity to capture the play of lights. With vivo X80, it was able to reveal the well-defined wrinkles on an elderly man’s face, evoking a sense of time’s passage and nostalgia.

She expressed, “Capturing images of the elderly is my true calling, recognizing their fleeting presence. This fervour stems from my own grandmother. In the past, photography was constrained by traditional cameras, making it an exclusive pursuit. Yet, these constraints ignited my passion for photography, intensifying my longing to forever preserve moments shared with my grandmother and effectively freeze time.” On top of that, she underscores her fondness for capturing human portraits, embodying stories and heartfelt warmth. This aligns with her statement that her photographic odyssey was born from the aspiration to encapsulate moments that transcend time.

Additionally, her photographic journey is deeply intertwined with her choice of equipment – the vivo X series. Her introduction to the world of vivo smartphones began with the vivo X70 Pro, and later progressed to the vivo X80, eventually settling with the vivo X90 Pro. She was captivated by the potential of the vivo X80 during the visit to the vintage coffee factory with her friends. It has notably enhanced her proficiency in capturing high-quality images, especially under challenging low-light circumstances. Although she initially favoured digital cameras, she came to realise the impressive capabilities of mobile smartphones, exemplified by the vivo X80, in producing shots comparable to those of dedicated digital cameras. This revelation prompted her transition to becoming a mobile photographer.

Overall, Kim Yap’s success story is a beacon of inspiration, especially for young enthusiasts looking to embark on their own photography journey. Her advice is to believe in oneself, regardless of whether one has access to a smartphone or a digital camera. She emphasised that creativity is the driving force behind remarkable photography. Her journey stands as a confirmation to the profound influence of passion and the impact of unwavering self-belief.

Elevating Imaging Excellence: ZEISS Collaboration in vivo X90

Commencing from 2020, the vivo X series has embarked on a continuous exploration of imaging to bring forth numerous industry-leading technological breakthroughs and significant enhancements in user experience. It all began with the launch of the vivo X50. Over three successive years, the company has demonstrated unwavering commitment to the evolution of the X series across five generations. These endeavours, ranging from micro gimbal technology to collaboration with ZEISS, the development of in-house chips, and vivo’s ongoing innovation in the realm of mobile photography. The exceptional performance of the vivo X series has rightfully earned it the esteemed distinction as the ‘Flagship of Mobile Imaging.’

All in all, Kim Yap’s success, the vivo X series evolution, and the ZEISS partnership embody innovation driving mobile photography. We are looking forward to vivo’s ongoing breakthroughs in the realm of imaging excellence.

“Macam proses rakaman MV, hanya ambil masa sehari. Jalan cerita pun ‘straight forward’ saja dan produksi pun agak ‘simple’. Semua lancar. Saya pula dah pernah bekerja dengan mereka sebelumnya, jadi saya yakin dengan mereka.

“Cuma, kita berdepan sedikit cabaran yang mana atas beberapa sebab kita terpaksa buat penggambaran semula MV, tapi ia bukan masalah besar.

  • Euro EUR Exchange Rates

The seven colourful bills, designed by the Austrian artist Robert Kalina and ranging in denomination from €5 to €500, symbolize the unity of Europe and feature a map of Europe, the EU’s flag, and arches, bridges, gateways, and windows. The eight euro coins range in denominations from one cent to two euros. The coins feature one side with a common design; the reverse sides’ designs differ in each of the individual participating countries. The euro is the form of money for the 19 member countries of the eurozone. It’s the second-most widely used currency in foreign exchange (forex) trading after the U.S. dollar and the second-most widely held foreign exchange reserve used by central banks. Supporters of the euro argued that a single European currency would boost trade by eliminating foreign exchange fluctuations and reducing prices.

    1. Our currency rankings show that the most popular US Dollar exchange rate is the USD to USD rate.
    2. The euro unites us in diversity, as reflected by the two sides of our coins.
    3. The euro unites us – it’s used by about 350 million people across 20 European Union countries.
    4. National governments and central banks remain constrained in responding to economic conditions in their country by their reliance on the ECB’s monetary policy and budget rules set by the EU.

Pegging a country’s currency to a major currency is regarded as a safety measure, especially for currencies of areas with weak economies, as the euro is seen as a stable currency, prevents runaway inflation, and encourages foreign investment due to its stability. The euro was established by the provisions in the 1992 Maastricht Treaty. In the Maastricht Treaty, the United Kingdom and Denmark were granted westernfx review exemptions per their request from moving to the stage of monetary union which resulted in the introduction of the euro. Value of Obsolete National CurrenciesEuro bank notes and coins began circulating in 2002 with old notes and coins gradually being withdrawn from circulation. The precise dates that each old currency ceased being legal tender and their official fixed rates are shown in the table below.

What Are Euro Notes and What Are Their Denominations?

Coins have a standard image on one side, and on the other have a design related to the country of issue. Currently euro coins and notes are accepted anywhere in the Eurozone, regardless of the country of issue. We carefully study the circulation of and demand for euro banknotes, so that you will always have access to euro banknotes. The most obvious benefit of adopting a single currency is to remove the cost of exchanging currency, theoretically allowing businesses and individuals to consummate previously unprofitable trades. For consumers, banks in the eurozone must charge the same for intra-member cross-border transactions as purely domestic transactions for electronic payments (e.g., credit cards, debit cards and cash machine withdrawals).

The euro-to-dollar conversion details how many dollars the euro can buy at any given time, as measured by the current exchange rate. Forex traders on the foreign exchange market determine exchange rates, which change on a moment-by-moment basis, depending on how traders assess the risk vs. the reward for holding the currency. The European Central Bank (ECB) has an EU mandate to maintain price stability by preserving the value of the euro. The ECB is part of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) along with the national central banks of all the EU member states, including those that have not adopted the euro. The euro is the sole legal tender in the EU member states that have adopted it, including Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain. These countries form the eurozone, a region where the euro serves as the common currency.

    Top currency pairings for Euro

The EU reassured investors that it would guarantee the debt of all eurozone members. At the same time, it asked indebted countries to install austerity measures to ratchet down their spending. The first phase of the euro launch occurred in 1999 when it was introduced as the currency for electronic payments. These included credit and debit cards, loans, and other uses for accounting purposes. During this initial phase, old currencies were used for cash only. On the other hand, the eurozone brought together economies with disparate characteristics and national budgets without the authority for the sort of cross-border fiscal transfers that take place between the U.S. federal government and U.S. states.

    Xe International Money Transfer

The currency was introduced in non-physical form (traveller’s cheques, electronic transfers, banking, etc.) at midnight on 1 January 1999, when the national currencies of participating countries (the eurozone) ceased to exist independently. Their exchange rates were locked at fixed rates against each other. The euro thus became the beaxy exchange review successor to the European Currency Unit (ECU). The notes and coins for the old currencies, however, continued to be used as legal tender until new euro notes and coins were introduced on 1 January 2002. The ECB targets interest rates rather than exchange rates and in general, does not intervene on the foreign exchange rate markets.

A credible commitment to low levels of inflation and a stable debt reduces the risk that the value of the debt will be eroded by higher levels of inflation or default in the future, allowing debt to be issued at a lower nominal interest rate. The euro was initially proposed as the official currency of the exness broker reviews entire European Union in order to unify the countries. All 28 member nations pledged to adopt the euro when they joined the EU, but they must meet budget and other criteria before they can officially switch currencies. As of 2021, they were Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Sweden.

    Xe Rate Alerts

The euro unites us – it’s used by about 350 million people across 20 European Union countries. The euro is a beacon of stability and a symbol of European unity. Here at the European Central Bank, we work to safeguard its value. Bulgaria has negotiated an exception; euro in the Bulgarian Cyrillic alphabet is spelled eвро (evro) and not eуро (euro) in all official documents.[123] In the Greek script the term ευρώ (evró) is used; the Greek “cent” coins are denominated in λεπτό/ά (leptó/á). Our currency rankings show that the most popular Euro exchange rate is the EUR to USD rate.

  • Nadeera Tampil Dengan Penjenamaan Baharu, Mahu Terus Kukuhkan Perjalanan Bidang Seni Menerusi Single Emas

“Perjalanan single Emas agak berliku.

“Saya akui, saya bagai ‘dilahirkan’ semula selepas menjuarai Big Stage.

  • Decathlon Malaysia’s First Solar PV System Installation and Other Sustainability Initiatives

In one of their largest stores, Decathlon Shah Alam, Decathlon Malaysia is putting rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) facilities.

Arnaud Sauret, CEO of Decathlon Malaysia asserts Decathlon Malaysia’s commitment wherein “Our conviction in the potency of sports to propel our sustainability ambitions is unwavering. By empowering people to embrace sports on their own terms, we champion the cause of cultivating a robust and joyful present and future for generations to come. This entails not only cherishing our invaluable playground, but also fostering the creation of a sustainable value of humanity.”

This reflects Decathlon’s efforts in strengthening environmental and sustainability efforts, aligning with their goals: 100% renewable energy in all their stores & warehouses by 2026 (complying to RE100 guidelines), and a global net zero emissions goal by 2050.

According to Atul Gupta, Decathlon Malaysia Expansion Leader: “With this initiative, we will be cutting the carbon emissions of Shah Alam store by 38% per annum. Moving forward all of our new standalone stores will have solar panels on the rooftop.”

This initiative is made possible through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Malaysian-based clean energy expert, Solarvest Holdings Berhad (Solarvest). With Solarvest’s vision to energise a regenerative world, the company engages across the clean energy value chain encompassing the development, financing, engineering, construction, operation, and maintenance of solar PV assets. It also embarked on a strategic roadmap to venture into new sustainable solutions across the clean energy ecosystem, such as energy storage systems (ESS), renewable energy certificates (REC), green hydrogen, and green data centres.

Solarvest will work closely with Decathlon Malaysia with the supply of renewable energy installation at the future standalone stores, Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA or CGPP in Malaysia) and Renewable energy certificates (I-REC or TIGRs) which we require to achieve the 100% renewable energy goal by 2026 and achieve a key milestone in Decathlon Malaysia’s transition plan.

CGPP (Corporate Green Power Programme) is a programme that uses VPPA to allow corporate consumers to virtually purchase renewable energy from clean energy developers. This is one of the great options for companies who want to achieve 100% renewable electricity without having to install solar PV systems on their own property.

Executive Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of Solarvest, Mr. Davis Chong Chun Shiong said, “We are delighted to be entrusted by Decathlon Malaysia as its key sustainability partner in Malaysia, working together to enhance environmental responsibility. Through our solar financing programme, Powervest, we are pleased to facilitate Decathlon Malaysia’s seamless transition to clean energy adoption, without the burden of initial capital outlays.”

“Apart from the installation of a 311.85kWp rooftop solar PV system at Decathlon Malaysia’s flagship outlet in Malaysia, Solarvest is excited to play a pivotal role in supporting Decathlon Malaysia’s commitment to the RE100 global corporate renewable energy initiative. This underscores Decathlon Malaysia’s determination to integrate clean energy into their upcoming stores. Furthermore, this partnership extends the opportunity to engage in VPPA arrangements with Decathlon, enabling them to enjoy stable long-term energy pricing, while promoting sustainable and eco-conscious practices in pursuit of their 100% renewable energy goal. ”

Mr Gupta continues: “In Decathlon Malaysia, our real estate sustainability strategy is built on the concept of Reduce – Replace – Rebuild, through 5 strategic pillars:

    1. Energy Management – to reduce wastage and improve energy efficiency by investing in controls technology and behavior change. For our latest store, Decathlon Gurney Paragon, we installed schedulable & dimmable LED lights which yielded 28% savings in lighting consumption.
    2. Green Building –  to reduce our carbon footprint in all new stores, where all our new stores are EDGE Certified, a green building certification offered by the International Finance Corporation (IFC). EDGE certified buildings use 20% less energy, water and building materials to construct and operate.
    3. Renewable energy – to replace carbon intensive energy to less carbon intensive energy.
    4. Green Mobility – to assist in rebuilding the transportation sector by providing EV charging points for electric vehicles.
    5. Biodiversity – to rebuild the natural habitat inside the city.”

As stated in the Decathlon Group’s 2020-2026 Transition Plan, their commitment to environmental sustainability goes beyond renewable energy and sustainability in real estate.

  • WITH THE ‘RACE DAY’ FASHION SHOW AT SEPANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT, NEONATE X SVG WORLDWIDE WENT FULL THROTTLE TO ELEVATE THE MALAYSIAN STREETWEAR SCENE.

Last Sunday night (20 August 2023), Neonate and SVG Worldwide, two local streetwear titans, made their big premiere as collaborators, showcasing a new collection named RACE DAY at the Sepang International Circuit.

Slotted as an ‘off-schedule’ Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2023 (KLFW23) show, RACE DAY’s  83 looks collection was divided into eight different colour story, namely red, orange, blue, yellow, silver, green, brown and black. Featuring a mix of new and seasoned professional models, media personalities and influencers (who walked a total of 132km collectively for the RACE DAY show), the collection’s daring interpretation of ‘a normal day at the race track’ looked radiant especially with the iconic background that could only be achieved when held at the first proper world-class race track in Asia and certified by FIA, the Sepang International Circuit.

Neonate and SVG started their RACE DAY campaign in June 2023 to tease their fans on the collaboration creating an internet meltdown. “The open call for new models drew an astounding 700 participants during its 2-day session. We shortlisted 77 fresh talents we perceive as the best to represent the vibe of both brands and I couldn’t be happier with their runway execution last night. ” says Karl Shafek, Founder and Creative Director of Neonate Clothing Company. “The undertaking for this collaboration is huge because not only do we have to cater to the demographics of both brands and making sure that while while we stay true to our brand DNA, it has to have that element that speaks of the partnership. Having a theme like RACE DAY makes it both easy and hard at the same time”.

Echoing Karl’s sentiment, Ashraf Anuar, Founder of the current powerhouse of the Malaysian streetwear scene, SVG Worldwide added, “It’s easy because while the freedom to create is still present, it confines us to an area that is wide enough to go crazy but still taking into account the cohesiveness aspect of it. And hard because a collection with a name like RACE DAY, the set up needs to match the theme. As (near) perfectionists, both of us decides to take the plunge and do it like how we imagined it in our heads”.

The show was truly a production with approximately 300 crew members handling the on-ground side and main shows’ activities. Attended by more than 3,000 guests including more than 900 VIPs consisting of family, friends, stakeholders and participants and supporters of the Malaysian fashion industry, RACE DAY’s set up was a sight to behold and matches any other international events ever held at the track. On top of this were the clothes presented. Nothing was spared as Karl and Ashraf uses rich materials to form the garments. “We have denim, leather, cotton, rayon, wool, even canvas; and a dress completely made out of beads and gemstones. Streetwear has come a long way since the term was first coined. The line has been blurred and you would even see T-shirts and baggy denim pants in a haute couture show as done by Demna for Balenciaga. So we really wanted this collection to have a touch of glamour and high fashion. We even went as far as producing custom SVG X Neonate RACE DAY racing suits. I learned so much during this process and I would like to thank Karl personally for guiding me”, says Ashraf.

Karl added, “Neonate and SVG are also grateful and would like to acknowledge Komono Malaysia and Converse Malaysia for their support by sponsoring accessories, namely sunglasses, watches, and sneakers to be used for the show. We must also give a massive shoutout to KLFW especially its Founder, Mr Andrew Tan for his continuous support, leadership and commendable initiatives to elevate the Malaysian fashion industry”. Endorsed by KLFW, other partners of the Neonate X SVG activation campaign and RACE DAY show are De’Xandra Perfume as main sponsor, Sepang International Circuit, AirAsia, Royale Chulan Hotels & Resorts, Motormaniac, Bateriku, Prestige Medispa Malaysia, JCPR, Hausboom, MZone Studio and Majalah Remaja. The event ended with a mini concert featuring some of the hottest young hip hop artists in the country including MK of K-Clique.

RACE DAY by Neonate X SVG will be released in parts for retail purposes. Follow them on social media via @neonate.company @svgwrldwide to receive latest news and announcements.

    Adakah mereka akhirnya bersahabat baik?

Quah Xin En, Imran Azim Iskandar dan Goay Lian Lian masing- masing mendapat satu anugerah Champion of the World, manakala Dato’ Wahadaniah telah memenangi 2 anugerah Champion of the World iaitu dalam bahagian Photoshoot dan Spokesmodel.

  • IBU NAKHODA HIDUP 2023 CELEBRATES EMPOWERED MOTHER ENTREPRENEURS: EMPOWERING DREAMS, IGNITING SUCCESS

The Ibu Nakhoda Hidup 2023 initiative has successfully concluded, according to WOMEN:girls, Procter & Gamble (P&G) Malaysia and Singapore, and MYDIN Mohamed Holdings Berhad (MYDIN). The concluding event, which was held at the MYDIN headquarters in Subang Jaya, was a resounding monument to these prestigious organizations’ successful commitment to supporting and economically strengthening women entrepreneurs throughout the country.

The Ibu Nakhoda Hidup programme, launched in 2015, stands as a beacon of empowerment,  equipping enterprising mother entrepreneurs with the essential tools, knowledge, and unwavering  confidence to flourish amidst the ever-evolving business landscape, enriching their families and  broader communities.

“Partnerships serve as the cornerstone of sustainable development, and we are immensely  gratified to rekindle our collaboration with Procter & Gamble (P&G) and MYDIN to relaunch the Ibu  Nakhoda Hidup programme, following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. This programme exemplifies the unyielding values of our esteemed partners. At WOMEN: girls, we understand that  empowering mother entrepreneurs doesn’t just uplift communities, it secures the future for  generations to come,” declared Izza Izelan, Executive Director of WOMEN: girls, a dynamic non-governmental organisation committed to nurturing women into role models and children into  change agents.

The Ibu Nakhoda Hidup initiative is underpinned by the ‘Hulurkan Harapan’ Fund, a visionary fund  jointly established by P&G and MYDIN a decade ago to champion social initiatives endorsed by  P&G. Each RM10 spent on P&G products at MYDIN Hypermarkets and the Roadshow, from its  inception in May until June this year, contributed 5 cents to this impactful fund, culminating in an  impressive RM95,000 total collection. Through this resource, every mother entrepreneur is  uniquely supported with tailored aid, whether in the form of goods, services, equipment, or  materials essential to elevate their entrepreneurial pursuits.

Following a meticulous evaluation of 104 mothers interviewed across diverse locations, including  Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Terengganu, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Melaka, Kelantan, Sabah,  and Sarawak, six exceptional mother entrepreneurs have been chosen as recipients of the 2023  programme.

The six include Chendra Anak Bahak, a Kuching-native food entrepreneur pioneering traditional  Borneo cuisine in Peninsular Malaysia; Yenny Jamrut, a Sabahan cendol artisan poised for  innovative expansion; Mariani Idris, an agriculture enthusiast from Kuching with over two decades  of plant and fertiliser expertise; Masinah, a Sabah-based purveyor of salted fish and dried shrimps  with aspirations of international exports; Azmira Ali, a Sambal Penyet maven expanding her sambal-making enterprise; and Paremala Vanni, a bakery proprietor and certified baking instructor  committed to widening her impact through extended baking classes.

P&G’s relentless commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs and sparking transformative  change resonates profoundly through its steadfast endorsement of this initiative. Mr. Nantha  Kumaran Kalimuthu, Country Manager of P&G Malaysia and Singapore, asserted, “Rooted in a  legacy of innovation and progressive change, P&G acknowledges women’s paramount role in  propelling economic advancement. Through strategic collaborations like the Ibu Nakhoda Hidup  programme, P&G leverages its extensive expertise and resources, bestowing financial backing  and invaluable upskilling prospects. By equipping aspiring mother entrepreneurs with the skills to  expand their enterprises, we aspire to empower these women to establish, flourish, and amplify  their earnings, creating fresh job opportunities within their communities. Their triumph will stand as  a model for fellow women, engendering a virtuous cycle of reinvestment in families and  communities. This dedicated commitment to nurturing and elevating women entrepreneurs  epitomises P&G’s core principles and augments its enduring influence on societies and  economies.”

Datuk Wira (Dr) Hj. Ameer Ali Bin Mydin, Executive Director of MYDIN, declared, “MYDIN proudly  continues its collaborative journey with P&G Malaysia and Singapore and WOMEN:girls in  nurturing and enriching maternal entrepreneurial prowess through the Ibu Nakhoda Hidup  programme. Since its inception in 1957, MYDIN has consistently championed its role as an  economic catalyst and avenue for opportunity. Embracing the ethos of ‘Why Pay More? Buy at  Wholesale Prices!’, MYDIN extends beyond merely delivering quality goods; it fosters an  environment where burgeoning women entrepreneurs can illuminate. Initiatives like this mirror  MYDIN’s commitment to encouraging and equipping mother entrepreneurs with exposure,  resources, and nurturing conditions to flourish. In championing women’s aspirations, MYDIN  significantly contributes to a more comprehensive and thriving society, embodying an unwavering  allegiance to women’s empowerment and economic advancement.”

The Ibu Nakhoda Hidup 2023 programme once again epitomises the unswerving dedication of  WOMEN:girls, P&G, and MYDIN, accentuating their shared resolve to empower women  entrepreneurs, kindle economic growth, and forge an enduring impact within Malaysian  communities. From ice cream vendors to music tutors, this initiative has already empowered 25  mother entrepreneurs spanning Malaysia, surmounting barriers to business accomplishment and  enriching their families and communities.

The closing ceremony of Ibu Nakhoda Hidup 2023 radiates a beacon of aspiration, empowerment,  and collaboration, underscoring the collective commitment of WOMEN:girls, P&G, and MYDIN in  steering meaningful transformation within Malaysia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Malaysia Business Events Week (MBEW) 2023 was once again successfully organized by the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB). The six-day event, which was held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (The Centre), brought together 400 business event professionals and offered them insights and expertise through panel discussions, seminars, training sessions, forums, and CSR efforts.

The highlight of MBEW 2023 was the launch of the MyTripleE support programme under MyCEB’s Meet in Malaysia campaign, aimed at attracting regional and international business events to Malaysia while bolstering the domestic market. The programme’s three components, Excel, Elevate, and Enliven, provide financial and non-financial support to enhance the execution of world-class business events and cater to various target market segments that include convention, exhibition, as well as corporate meetings and incentives.

MyTripleE programme is based on a three-pronged strategy designed to cover three identified target market segments. It covers international market development as part of our ongoing portfolio and further encourages the expansion of local events and meetings to foster the spirit of unity and harmony amongst Malaysians. Additionally, MyTripleE also targets to emphasize on cultural elements and to serve as an enhancement of governmental Business Events,” explained Datuk Hajah Saraya Arbi, Interim Chairman of MyCEB.

She expressed excitement about the programme’s comprehensive coverage and its role in supporting stakeholders by addressing industry challenges. By 2030, business events are expected to attract 5.9 million delegates, contributing to RM42.12 billion in estimated economic impact whilst creating an estimated 25,833 total employment if everything goes according to the plan including budget allocation from government.

Present also to officiate MBEW 2023 was YBhg. Datuk Zamri Mat Zain, Deputy Secretary General (Tourism), Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Malaysia on behalf of YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Malaysia commented, “I commend MyCEB for their tremendous work done not only for this event, but also the entire business events industry. Time after time, MyCEB has proven that they are indeed the pillar of this industry and continues to lead all Malaysian players in the global business events arena. As of August 2023, MyCEB has secured 149 business events under its belt that are happening throughout the year. These events will contribute to an estimated economic impact of RM2.4 billion and welcoming around 494,015 delegates to the country. These figures are expected to grow over time, signaling a promising upturn and indicating that the business events industry is steadily picking up pace for recovery.”

The Deputy Secretary General (Tourism) reaffirmed, “MOTAC is proactively supporting business events activities and welcome bigger collaborations with even non-industry parties including non-government organisations to achieve the next phase of growth for this sector. I look forward to more strong prospects for Malaysia as we step closer to Visit Malaysia Year”.

“Guiding the path to success at MBEW 2023 has been an honor and a privilege. I am immensely proud of the strides we’ve taken. Managing a session topic from its inception, curating content, and inviting thought leaders to the stage, it’s been a journey of shaping impactful discussions. Equally important, nurturing the Future Leaders Programme on 23 August has been a true highlight. Seeing emerging talents blossom and contribute energizes our commitment to the industry’s growth. MBEW stands as a testament to collaboration, innovation, and the power of collective progress. I am also very happy to see MyCEB’s continuous efforts in growing the industry through creative and practical initiatives such as the latest MyTripleE. I am confident it will be of great boost to our business, and I look forward to the continued elevation of the business events landscape,” shared Francis Teo, President of Malaysian Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (MACEOS)

  • “Arah Cinta” – Single terbaru penyanyi terkenal tanah air, Siti Nordiana
