    RMHC Malaysia and McDonald’s Celebrate Hari Raya with Underprivileged Children Through Festive Open House and Gift-Giving

    A delightful movie day brought together more than 160 children from various orphanages for a special screening of A Minecraft Movie on 3 May 2025, creating memories filled with fun and excitement. Organised by Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Malaysia in partnership with McDonald’s Malaysia, the event was hosted at TGV Cinemas, Jaya Shopping Centre, and welcomed children and caretakers from four homes: Padmasambhava Children Loving Association Klang Selangor, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary K.L, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan Ash-Shakur, and Pertubuhan Pendidikan Anak-Anak Yatim Selangor.

    To extend their support beyond just entertainment, RMHC Malaysia presented a total donation of RM10,000 to the participating orphanages, reaffirming their commitment to improving the lives of children in need. The experience was further enriched by McDonald’s Malaysia, who provided meals for all attendees after the screening and organised a birthday celebration for children born in April and May, adding a personal and joyful touch to the occasion.

    This event was part of a broader global collaboration between McDonald’s and Warner Bros. Entertainment, with A Minecraft Movie serving as a key highlight for 2025. The initiative continues a meaningful tradition of movie day outings hosted by RMHC Malaysia and McDonald’s Malaysia in collaboration with TGV Cinemas. Previous screenings included popular titles like Minions: The Rise of Gru in 2022 and Despicable Me 4 in 2024, collectively bringing joy to more than 360 children over the years.

    Dato’ Haji Azmir Jaafar, President of RMHC Malaysia, shared that such experiences are vital in creating moments of happiness and inclusion for children who often face life’s challenges at a young age. “It’s about more than just entertainment—it’s about showing these children that they are seen, valued, and cared for,” he said.

    In addition to events like this, RMHC Malaysia continues to make a meaningful difference through its core programs: the Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Sensory Room, Gift of Smile Program, and Back-to-School Program.     This Hari Raya, Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd (Domino’s) brought a unique twist to the festive season, giving away over 13,000 personal-sized ShaWAHma Pizzas in a spectacular one-day nationwide event. The WAH Raya Open House, held on April 10, 2025, saw long queues form outside more than 260 Domino’s outlets across Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak, as eager customers flocked to get a taste of the limited-edition festive flavour.

    The buzz surrounding the giveaway was hard to miss, with the first 50 customers at each store treated to a free ShaWAHma Pizza—an exciting new creation inspired by Middle Eastern flavours. With a bold combination of spiced meat, creamy Shawarma sauce, and fresh toppings, the ShaWAHma Pizza quickly became a must-try for both loyal fans and curious newcomers alike.

    Ahmad Ihsan, a 48-year-old from Kuala Kangsar, shared how the surprise giveaway added excitement to his day: “My colleagues and I were on our way out when we saw the ShaWAHma Pizza giveaway happening at the Domino’s nearby. It was a pleasant surprise and a fun break from our usual routine. I had the Beef ShaWAHma, and it really hit the spot. Definitely the highlight of our day!”

    For Cheryl Lim, a 32-year-old from Kepong, the giveaway turned an ordinary workday into something special. “I was heading out for a quick bite when I noticed the crowd at Domino’s. Curious, I walked over and found out about the ShaWAHma Pizza giveaway. I tried the Chicken ShaWAHma and loved it, the garlic drizzle was the perfect touch. It really turned an ordinary workday into something unexpectedly enjoyable,” she said.

    The ShaWAHma Pizza, with its combination of spiced meats, cherry tomatoes, onions, and a generous garlic drizzle over mozzarella, was the perfect treat for many. For those seeking an extra indulgence, customers had the option to upgrade their crust with the Cheese Volcano, filled with rich, molten cheddar, ideal for dipping.

    Students from UNITAR International University in Kelana Jaya were also quick to join the Raya festivities, after word of the giveaway spread through campus. “A few of us decided to check it out together after class. The ShaWAHma Pizza was refreshing, and the flavours were unique and really satisfying, something different that we all enjoyed,” said one student.

    The special event even caught the attention of families like Revathy Suresh’s from Kuantan, Pahang. “We were excited about the giveaway and happy to get a taste of the new ShaWAHma Pizza. We ended up purchasing the Cheese Volcano ShaWAHma Chicken Pizza because we wanted our family back home to enjoy it too,” Revathy shared.

    In celebration of World Food Day, PepsiCo has partnered with The Assembly Soup Kitchen (TASK) to distribute over 1000 food packs, containing Tropicana fruit drinks, Quaker 3in1 Cereal Drinks, Quaker Cookies and Lay’s Potato Chips to underserved communities in Malaysia. This initiative primarily benefits students in refugee schools, homeless individuals, and members of the B40 group in Chow Kit area of KL.

    PepsiCo’s World Food Day food distribution drive in Malaysia was done in two phases. In the first phase, PepsiCo employees and their family members came together to freshly prepare and distribute meals in August, while in the second phase 1000 Nourishing Food packs were prepared to be distributed in the week of October 16-23. This initiative is aligned with PepsiCo’s mission to improve nutrition access and ties into this year’s World Food Day theme: “Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future.”

    “Food security is essential to thriving communities. Unfortunately, much of the world’s population remains food insecure—a crisis exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, and Malaysia is no exception,” said Aditya Ahuja, Commercial Director for PepsiCo Foods in Malaysia, Singapore & Pacific Islands. “This year’s collaboration with TASK builds on our multi-year efforts to ensure that underserved communities in Malaysia have access to proper nutrition, as part of our PepsiCo Positive (pep+) mission.”
