“DJI Unveils Osmo Action 5 Pro: A New Era for Action Cameras”

DJI has announced the release of the Osmo Action 5 Pro, a groundbreaking addition to their acclaimed action camera lineup. This latest model introduces innovative features that challenge even the capabilities of professional cameras. With impressive specifications like a 13.5-stop dynamic range and a robust 4-hour battery life, the Osmo Action 5 Pro aims to elevate the standard for adventure photography, capturing stunning visuals in diverse environments and conditions.

“By merging professional-grade image quality with the rugged resilience of an action camera, we aim to redefine the industry,” stated Paul Pan, DJI’s Senior Product Line Manager. “Today’s creators are pushing boundaries in storytelling and capturing moments. Instead of merely making small tweaks, we focus on significant advancements that support the evolving needs of these creators.”

The Osmo Action 5 Pro boasts a state-of-the-art 1/1.3” sensor with a 2.4 μm pixel size, achieving an impressive 13.5 stops of dynamic range. This makes it the first action camera to offer such high-level specifications, rivaling professional equipment. It can record in 10-bit D-Log M and is compatible with hybrid log-gamma (HLG) displays, providing exceptional low-light video quality at 4K/60fps. The SuperNight mode, enhanced by AI noise reduction, enables users to capture clear footage even in very dim lighting.

With an enhanced battery life of up to 4 hours, the Osmo Action 5 Pro allows for extended filming sessions. This significant increase is achieved through a power-efficient 4nm chip, a larger 1950mAh battery, and a unique DJI algorithm for energy management. In temperatures as low as -20° C (-4°F), users can still enjoy up to 3.6 hours of recording. Additionally, the quick-charging capability allows for 2 hours of shooting with just a 15-minute charge using the DJI 30W USB-C Charger.

This model introduces the industry’s first integrated subject centering and tracking feature, enabling seamless shooting without the need for a gimbal. Utilizing a powerful 4nm chip and advanced machine learning, the camera intelligently maintains the subject’s position, ensuring perfect composition in every shot.

Designed with underwater enthusiasts in mind, the Osmo Action 5 Pro offers an exceptional waterproof capability of up to 20m without needing an additional case. Its built-in color temperature sensor accurately captures vibrant colors underwater, while automatic recording features and a pressure gauge enhance the user experience and safety during dives.

Equipped with larger dual OLED touchscreens, the Osmo Action 5 Pro improves usability in bright conditions. With a peak brightness of 1000 cd/㎡ and a 16% increase in screen-to-body ratio from its predecessor, users can enjoy a more immersive viewing experience without sacrificing the camera’s compact design. The camera is fully compatible with the DJI OsmoAudio™ ecosystem, allowing for direct Bluetooth connection to the DJI Mic 2 Transmitter for superior audio quality. This configuration eliminates the need for a receiver and provides the option to record ambient sounds, enriching the audio landscape of the footage.

Other practical enhancements include 47GB of built-in storage optimized for compact file sizes, high-speed transfer capabilities up to 80MB/s through Wi-Fi 6.0 or USB 3.0, and support for live streaming in various resolutions. Features like timecode synchronization, highlight marking, and pre-recording functionality streamline the editing process for users. With the DJI Mimo app, creators can effortlessly manage their camera settings, preview footage, and edit recordings. New features include live photo capabilities, 4K high-resolution frame captures, and D-Log M flat color profile options for personalized adjustments. The app allows for background downloads, enabling users to multitask on their smartphones while managing their media.

DJI Care Refresh is now available for the Osmo Action 5 Pro, offering an extensive protection plan against accidental damages. This plan covers a range of incidents, including natural wear and tear, collisions, and water exposure, providing peace of mind for users looking to protect their investment.
