AMAZFIT UNVEILS T-REX DUAL SOLAR, THE FIRST AMOLED SMARTWATCH WITH DUAL-SIDED SOLAR CHARGING

KUALA LUMPUR, 20 October 2026 — Amazfit, a leading global smart wearable brand owned by Zepp Health, has introduced the T-Rex Dual Solar, a premium expedition smartwatch designed for long-distance adventures and multi-day outdoor exploration. The smartwatch features the world’s first AMOLED display with a dual-sided solar charging system, allowing it to harvest solar energy through both the front display and an innovative glass-ceramic back plate. This combination aims to deliver premium display quality alongside extended battery endurance for users exploring areas with limited access to conventional power sources.

The T-Rex Dual Solar offers up to 25 days of typical battery life, supported by a 660mAh battery and a bright, full-colour AMOLED display. Its dual-sided solar charging technology provides additional opportunities to recover energy from sunlight, helping users extend usage between conventional charges. Under Amazfit’s typical-use testing conditions, three hours of daily exposure to sunlight at 50,000 lux can extend battery life from up to 25 days to as long as 34 days through the front solar panel. Meanwhile, the larger rear solar panel, integrated into the glass-ceramic back plate, offers twice the solar collection area of the front panel for greater energy collection when the watch is removed and exposed to sunlight.

The smartwatch also introduces Solar Priority Mode, which places the device in an ultra-low-power state to maximise solar energy recovery while it is off the wrist. For extended expeditions, Outdoor Extreme battery mode reduces power consumption while retaining essential outdoor functions, including GPS track points. Its dedicated Expedition activity mode further supports multi-day trips and longer periods away from a charger, making the device suitable for outdoor enthusiasts who require reliable navigation tools in remote environments.

Amazfit’s Vice President of Global Marketing, Sara Webster Wylie, said the T-Rex Dual Solar was developed to balance everyday usability with the endurance required for outdoor adventures. By combining AMOLED display technology with solar charging, the company aims to provide users with a bright, premium viewing experience without compromising battery performance when travelling far from conventional power sources.

Designed for demanding environments, the T-Rex Dual Solar features a Grade 5 titanium bezel and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal for durability. Its 1.32-inch AMOLED display delivers peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits, helping users view maps, routes and other information clearly outdoors. The device also offers 10 ATM water resistance, recreational diving support to depths of 50 metres and a built-in flashlight with a red-light option designed to provide lower-intensity illumination while helping preserve night vision. In terms of endurance, the smartwatch supports up to 41 hours of use in Accuracy GPS Mode.

Navigation is another key feature, with full-colour preloaded maps featuring expanded road networks, alongside downloadable contour and ski maps. Users can access intelligent route planning, turn-by-turn navigation, advanced waypoint navigation and points of interest (POI) displays. The Navigation Gradient Curve feature presents upcoming climbs and descents through a colour-coded elevation profile, allowing adventurers to assess changes in terrain more easily. LiveShare also enables users to share their real-time location, heading and key activity information with friends, family or teammates, providing additional reassurance during outdoor journeys.

According to Amazfit athlete and alpinist Jost Kobusch, solar charging offers an important backup power source for navigation when exploring remote areas. He noted that relying on sunlight could reduce the need to carry an additional power bank solely for navigation, potentially saving weight and simplifying equipment during demanding expeditions, particularly at high altitudes where sunlight can be abundant.

Beyond navigation and battery performance, the Zepp App brings together training, recovery and outdoor activity data in one platform. It provides personalised insights to help users better understand their performance and prepare for upcoming activities, without requiring a subscription.

The Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar will be available for purchase from 23 October 2026 at a retail price of RM2,799 through Amazfit’s official website and retail partners, including Shopee, Lazada and TikTok. As part of the launch promotion, customers purchasing through the official website will receive a complimentary outdoor camping tent worth approximately RM499. Meanwhile, purchases through Shopee, Lazada and TikTok will come with a complimentary Decathlon backpack. Both promotional gifts are available while stocks last.

With its dual-sided solar charging system, durable construction, advanced navigation capabilities and extended battery life, the T-Rex Dual Solar strengthens Amazfit’s offering for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a smartwatch built for both everyday use and demanding expeditions.
