PETALING JAYA, 19 October 2026 — KFC Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment to community well-being by contributing 20,000 face masks to support vulnerable and underserved communities across the Klang Valley. The initiative reflects the company’s continued efforts to create meaningful social impact and address the immediate needs of communities facing daily challenges, particularly amid recent air quality concerns affecting parts of the country.
The contribution is carried out in collaboration with two non-governmental organisation (NGO) partners under the KFC Harvest Programme, namely Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) and The Lost Food Project (TLFP). Both organisations have established extensive outreach networks supporting vulnerable groups, including homeless individuals, underprivileged families and communities with limited access to essential resources.
A symbolic handover ceremony was held at Menara QSR, where representatives from KSK and TLFP received the face masks on behalf of the communities they serve. The initiative marks the beginning of a two-phase outreach effort designed to provide additional care and protection to individuals facing hardship, including homeless communities and underserved families.

During the first phase, KSK and TLFP will distribute the face masks through their respective outreach networks. Representatives from KFC Malaysia will also join volunteers from both NGOs to distribute face masks and KFC meal packs to members of the homeless community on 17 October 2026 at Pusat Khidmat Gelandangan Medan Tuanku in Kuala Lumpur.
Through these partnerships, KFC Malaysia aims to deliver timely assistance to those who need it most. Together, KSK and TLFP reach nearly 8,000 beneficiaries across the Klang Valley, including residents of charity homes and People’s Housing Programme (PPR) communities. Their impact extends further through various community outreach initiatives nationwide.
The second phase will be incorporated into upcoming activities under the KFC Harvest Programme, the company’s flagship food rescue initiative. Through future distributions, beneficiaries at participating charity homes and community centres will receive face masks alongside freshly prepared KFC meals and frozen chicken contributions.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Sahada Salihin, Head of Governance at QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd., said the company’s responsibility extends beyond serving quality meals to making a positive difference in the communities it serves and supporting those facing everyday challenges.
She added that the contribution of 20,000 face masks represents a simple yet meaningful way to provide additional care and protection to vulnerable communities. By working closely with long-standing partners KSK and TLFP, KFC Malaysia can ensure that assistance reaches the intended beneficiaries more effectively.
Sahada also highlighted how the initiative complements the KFC Harvest Programme, which supports communities through food redistribution while minimising waste. Through continued collaboration with its NGO partners, QSR Brands and KFC Malaysia aim to create a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of those in need.

Introduced in Malaysia in 2019, the KFC Harvest Programme rescues surplus food from participating KFC restaurants and redistributes it through NGO partners to underserved communities and charity homes. The initiative helps reduce food waste while strengthening food security among vulnerable groups.
Since its introduction, the programme has expanded to include 170 KFC restaurants nationwide and has redistributed more than 61,000 kilogrammes of surplus food through its NGO partners, benefiting thousands of individuals and families across Malaysia.
By extending its support beyond food assistance to include essential items such as face masks, KFC Malaysia continues to leverage its established community network to address a wider range of social needs. The initiative reflects QSR Brands’ broader sustainability commitment to responsible resource management and community development, with the aim of building healthier, more resilient and better-supported communities.
