‘KORSAKOFF’ MALAYSIAN FILM WINS INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

Luck comes to the local production company, D Alpha Legacy when their original work entitled ‘KORSAKOFF’ was recorded has been named the winner of the special category of ‘Best Psychological Film’ at the Cannes World Film Festival (CWFF) awards, and the newest, award winner at the 33rd World Film Carnival in Singapore (WFCS).

According to Nur Aminahtul Marrdiah Md Nor, the founder of D Alpha Legacy, “Alhamdulillah, all the hard work of the entire production team and the great actors of our country felt It’s worth it when the work of local children is recognized in the eyes of the world by international judges.

“We’re just trying our luck by sending the participation and finally announced as the winner for the August category of ‘Best Psychological Film’. There are many other nations that have sent their work, but fate is on our side. Thank you for this recognition.

Although this film has already been screened in front of an international professional jury to be judged, the Malaysians only have the opportunity to watch it officially and exclusively. Astro First’s ‘At Your Home Cinema’ starts on March 14, 2024.

Starring home-award-winning actors like Erra Fazira, Azhan Rani, Iqram Dinzly, Ning Baizura, and the main character of ‘Jelita’ are held by the newcomers, Elly Arifin.

Aminahtul says, “Although Elly is a new actress, and this is her first time playing the character of heroine, she was supported by actors of national prestige, and cooperation between them that makes this film successful.

“The selection of actors is based on their ability to revive the characters of the film. For instance, Erra is an artisan of a country whose talents are not to be disputed anymore, while Azhan is an acclaimed method actor, for Iqram, many people missed him great acting, while Ning had a strong presence on the screen camera and for Elly, a potential and capable actor to go a long way.

The original idea of the film came from a conversation between the director, the publisher, and the writer of the script that love psychological stories and at the same time, want to share information about the condition of Korsakoff’s disease.

Shared Aminahtul, “We’re just talking to each other and intending to talk the existence of this disease, then synopsis is produced before it develops into a published manuscript.

“This manuscript is inspired by true stories that happened and have something connect with Korsakoff’s disease, which later became a fantasy story.

“While the filming process takes in 15 days, this does not include an acting session screen that took more than four months.

Producer, D Alpha Legacy is also collaborating with the social media app popularly known as TikTok Malaysia in their efforts to support good local film works.

Although Korsakoff’s disease is rarely heard, it exists among us, and D Alpha Legacy wants the Malaysian community to understand whether it is generally through medium that quite entertaining.

“This manuscript is far from perfect and there are many weaknesses that we need to fix, yet we hope it can give us new knowledge through the pleasure of watching with family in the month of Ramadan later,” concluded Nur Aminahtul Marrdiah.
