Kuala Lumpur – 13 June 2026 — Malaysia welcomed a spectacular international performance as Disney’s The Lion King Live in Concert made its highly anticipated debut at KLCC Plenary Hall on 13 June, captivating audiences with a magical fusion of cinema and live orchestral music. The unforgettable production brought generations of fans together, reviving cherished childhood memories while showcasing Malaysia’s growing presence as a destination for world-class entertainment events.

The production attracted more than 5,000 attendees across two performances, held at 2.30pm and 8pm, offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience Disney’s beloved animated classic accompanied by a full live orchestra. Adding to the spirit of inclusivity, guests from three charitable homes and communities, including the Myanmar Refugee Learning Centre, BAKASA and Rumah Charis, were invited to enjoy the enchanting experience.

From the opening notes of “Circle of Life”, audiences were transported to the iconic Pride Lands as Simba’s unforgettable journey unfolded on the big screen, enhanced by a powerful live musical performance. The combination of cinematic storytelling and orchestral excellence created an immersive experience that celebrated the timeless appeal of one of Disney’s most treasured stories.

Leading the musical performance was the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) Malaysia of Istana Budaya, under the direction of Resident Conductor Eric Lee. Featuring a 72-piece orchestra, the performance brought to life the award-winning score by renowned composers including Oscar® and Grammy® winners Hans Zimmer, Elton John, Tim Rice and Lebo M. The orchestra’s precision and emotion transformed the animated film into a grand yet intimate musical spectacle.

Audiences of all ages enthusiastically joined in with iconic songs such as “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”, highlighting the lasting emotional connection audiences continue to share with The Lion King. Beyond nostalgia, the concert celebrated the story’s enduring messages of courage, love, responsibility and discovering one’s place in the world.
