In accordance with Section 43AA (2) of the Copyright Act of 1987, the Ampang Session Court today prosecuted and fined salesman Leong Wei Xiang, 23, RM20,000 for selling TV sets that were pre-loaded with illegal Astro material. He admitted the allegations and paid the RM20,000 penalties.

Leong committed the offence on 21 October 2022 at an outlet at Dataran Pandan Prima, Selangor. He was found in possession of four Android TV Boxes preloaded with unauthorised content.

This year alone, Astro has filed five legal actions against piracy and copyright infringement where a total of 10 individuals were found guilty and fined accordingly.

The Copyright (Amendment) Act 2022 was gazetted on 10 February 2022. Enforcement of the law was implemented by the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) on 18 March 2022.

The key impact of the amendment is the criminalisation of the sale of illicit streaming devices (ISDs) and associated software applications that allow unauthorised access to copyright content. Anyone found guilty can be fined a minimum of RM10,000 to a maximum of RM200,000 or be imprisoned up to 20 years, or both.

The amendments to the Copyright Act followed the declaration by the Intellectual Property High Court in Kuala Lumpur in May 2021 that the sale, offer for sale, distribution and/or supply of ISDs that can provide unauthorised access to copyrighted works, constitutes copyright infringement under the Copyright Act 1987.

Although Kat Roshan might be a name that is unfamiliar to some, those who have heard her singing on the radio or on other digital platforms are likely already aware of how quickly she is rising in Malaysia’s vocal scene.

Katrina Cheng Binti Roshan, this young singer-songwriter was born in Kuala Lumpur and is of mix parentage with a Malay father and Chinese mother.

Musically inclined since young, she was discovered to have the perfect pitch by her violin teacher. She started piano lessons at age 5 with her mother’s school friend, and later, picked up the guitar from her former Maths teacher, Stephen Kimber who also managed Kat these past few years as she developed her musical talent and early career.

Kat was only 15 at that time when she was introduced to Mr Ong Peng Chu. He has been mentoring her since 2018.

In line with her musical progress, the star just released her latest single called Going Crazy Wild. Composed and produced by renowned South Korean producer Jeong Wook ‘James’ Park, alongside Jun Il Kim and Chan Hee Jung, the dance track also sees the participation of Kat herself as the lyricist, accompanied by Korean hip hop star Su Jin who gives a dazzling rap performance in the song.

Kim Su Jin is an artist under Park Jeong Wook’s MOT label and is no stranger to the Korean hip hop scene.

According to Mr Park, “When I first met Kat, she seemed like a girl who simply loved music. However, as we proceeded with the recording, I discovered that she possessed perfect pitch and had a serious attitude towards music. I truly felt her genuine love for music.

Majlis Pelancongan Malaysia (MTC) yang telah dibatalkan oleh pihak ROS pada 20 Julai yang lalu mempunyai sebab yang kukuh yang menyebabkan pembatalan pendaftran MTC.

Pihak ROS telah mengeluarkan notis hendak membatalan Pendaftaran MTC yang bertarikah 11 April 2023 dibawah peruntukan seksyen 13(2) seperti yang terkandung dalam Akta Pertubuhan 1966 (Akta 335).

Sesalinan surat dari ROS bertarikh 11 April 2023.

1. Pihak MTC telah bersengaja melanggar Fasal 2 perlembagaan berdaftar pertubuhan dengan menukarkan dan menggunakan alamat berdaftar surat menyurat tanpa kebenaran Pendaftar Pertubuhan terlebih dahulu.
2. Telah bersengaja melanggar Fasal 5,2 perlembagaan berdaftar pertubuhan kerana pemecatan keahlian Persatuan Pembangunan Pelancongan Antarabangsa Malaysia (MiTDA) dan perlucutan keahlian Persatuan Agensi Pelancongan Malaysia (MATA)adalah tidak teratur dan tidak mengikut perlembagaan
3. Telah bersengaja Fasal 7 perlembagaan berdaftar pertubuhan kerana mengadakan Mesyuarat Agung Tahunan bagi tahun 2022 tidak mengikut ketetapan perlembagaan.
4. Telah bersengaja melanggar Fasal 8.1.3 perlembagaan berdaftar pertubuhan kerana pemecatan YBhg. Dato‘ NoorZaleha Baharuddin sebagai setiausaha Agung Kehormat adalah tidak teratur dan tidak mengikut perlembagaan.
5. Telah bersengaja melanggar Fasal 8.1.3 perlembagaan berdaftar pertubuhan kerana perlantikan Encik Chong Jing Kong sebagai Setiausaha Agung Kehormat yang baharu adalah tidak teratur dan tidak mengikut perlembagaan.
6. Telah bersengaja melanggar Fasal 10.4 perlembagaan pertubuhan berdaftar kerana penandatangan cek pertubuhan bukanlah Setiausaha Agung Kehormat yang dilantik didalam Mesyuarat Agung Tahunan pertubuhan.
7. Telah bersengaja melanggar fasal 10.5 perlembagaan berdaftar pertubuhan kerana perbelanjaan melebihi RM100,000.00 (Ringgit Malaysia Satu Ratus Ribu Sahaja) pada sesuatu masa tiada kelulusan Mesyaurat Agung.

Dengan bukti-bukti kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh AJK MTC maka pihak ROS membatal pendaftaran mengikut Akta Pertubuhan 1966.

Difaham mereka yang bersalah ini mempunyai niat untuk berjumpa dengan YB. Menteri Dalam Negeri untuk merayu agar pendaftaran MTC tidak dibatalkan. Berharap agar YB. Menteri Dalam Negeri untuk meneliti kesemua kesalahan MTC serta tidak melindungi mereka yang melakukan kesalahan dan jenayah yang melibatkan ratusan ribu wang pertubuhan.

Dengan pembatalan Pendaftaran MTC ini dapat menyekat mereka yang bersalah dari terus melakukan kesalahan yang serupa atau lebih berat lagi, Sekiranya pembatalan pendaftaran MTC ini dimansuhkan, mereka yang bersalah ini akan merasa kebal.

Seperti apa dilaporkan oleh setengah portal berita hari ini oleh individu yang tidak menyatakan nama dan hanya menggunakan nama seketariat MTC adalah salah dan boleh dianggap menyamar sebagai pegawai MTC. Berita yang dilaporkan adalah berita yang sama sekali tidak benar serta mengeliru pemain industri pelancongan serta orang awam yang berkepentingan. Ini adalah bertujuan untuk menutup kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh mereka. Untuk rekod MTC sudah dibatalkan pendaftaranya berkuatkuasa pada 20 Julai 2023 yang lalu.

Penyandang kerusi Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Selat Klang, Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari bakal ditentang Timbalan Presiden Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM), Datuk Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor dalam. Pilihan Raya Negeri (PRN) kali ini.

Ini bermakna pada PRN Selangor kali ini, akan berlaku bertembungan tiga penjuru di DUN Selat Klang setakat ini.

Selain Abdul Rashid yang juga Ketua Badan Pimpinan Negeri Bersatu Selangor, Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional (PH-BN) mempertaruhkan muka baru di kerusi berkenaan iaitu Datuk Roslee Abdul Hamid.

Mohamad Ezam berkata, PRM setakat ini meletakkan lapan calon untuk bertanding dalam PRN di Selangor termasuk beliau sendiri, namun tidak menolak kemungkinan ada calon baru di saat akhir.

Menurutnya, tumpuan kawasan akan diberikan kepada Selangor dan Pulau Pinang kerana PRM mempunyai kekuatan di kedua-dua negeri berkenaan yang dilihat ketara dan sengit.

Beliau turut menjangkakan keputusan di kedua negeri ini adalah berdasarkan keputusan Pilihan Raya Umum ke 15 (PRU15) lalu yang tidak akan mampu membentuk kerajaan.

Selain beliau, antara calon lain adalah Timbalan Setiausaha PRM, Syed Ahmad Putra bin Syed Isa akan bertanding di DUN Pelabuhan Klang; Ketua Penerangan PRM, Tan Kang Yap serta bekas Ahli Parlimen Kapar, S Manikavasigam di DUN Sentosa.

Laluan alternatif trafik dari Cheras menuju ke Jalan Sg. Besi adalah melalui Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Satu, Jalan Dua dan Jalan Tiga. Untuk trafik yang datang dari Cheras dan menghala ke Jalan Yew pula hendaklah melakukan pusingan U di persimpangan ’fly-over’ di Jalan Maharajalela dan ini juga sama untuk trafik yang datang dari Cheras dan menuju ke kawasan persekitaran Jalan Yew (Sila rujuk Lampiran 3A, 3B dan 3C)
4. Bulatan Loke Yew akan ditutup. Trafik Jalan Kinabalu menghala ke Jalan Loke Yew dan Jalan Sungai Besi akan dilencongkan ke Jalan Yew menghala ke Bulatan Pudu sahaja. Sebagai laluan alternatif pengguna jalan raya hendaklah melalui pusingan U di SMK (P) Pudu. Pengubahsuaian laluan trafik ini adalah kekal. (Rujuk Lampiran 4A, 4B, 4C dan 4D)
5. Bulatan Loke Yew akan ditutup. Laluan trafik Jalan Yew dari Bulatan Kg. Pandan untuk ke Jalan Kinabalu dan Jalan Kuching akan ditutup pada tempoh pembinaan. Laluan alternatif adalah melalui Jalan Kg. Pandan, Jalan Imbi dan Jalan Hang Tuah.

Bagi membolehkan kerja-kerja merobohkan jambatan susur & pembinaan semula jambatan di Bulatan Pudu menghala ke Jalan Sungai Besi (bersebelahan Balai Polis Pudu) dijalankan, jalan susur dari Jalan Pudu ke Jalan Yew ditutup kepada semua lalu lintas pada tempoh yang sama. Laluan alternatif adalah melalui Jalan Sg Besi, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Satu, Jalan Dua dan Jalan Tiga.

Pengguna jalan raya dinasihatkan supaya mematuhi isyarat papan tanda dan arahan polis trafik sebagai panduan dan langkah keselamatan bagi mengelakkan kekeliruan dan sebarang kesulitan.

Tidak kira berapa ramai pun yang datang, pendirian Jamal Abdillah di mata penyokongnya tidak akan berubah. Penyanyi lagenda seperti Dato’ Jamal Abdillah tidak akan pernah surut.

Jamal Abdiliah Live In Concert yang dijadual berlangsung pada 9 September 2023 akan diadakan di Plenary Hall, KL Convention Centre. la akan menjadi sebuah konsert istimewa persembahan dan ‘sesuatu’ yang telah direncana untuk dilaksanakan pada malam tersebut.

Khairuddin Othman, calon Pakatan Harapan (PH) Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Paya Jaras, mengutamakan kebajikan tenaga pengajar sekolah agama dengan menubuhkan koperasi untuk golongan itu.

Beliau berkata, kebajikan guru sekolah agama jarang dibangkitkan berbanding infrastruktur sekolah yang biasanya terdapat dana disalurkan bagi tujuan penambahbaikan dari semasa ke semasa.

“Bagi saya paling penting untuk kita perjuangkan akan datang adalah kebajikan guru sekolah agama yang harus diperhalusi dan ditambah baik.

“Sebab itu saya telah beberapa kali mencadangkan agar satu koperasi guru sekolah agama diwujudkan bagi menjana pendapatan dan demi kebajikan guru sekolah tersebut,” katanya ketika ditemui pada Program Ziarah Medik di Paya Jaras, baru-baru ini.

Susulan itu katanya beliau akan memohon kepada Institut Kemajuan Desa (INFRA) sebidang tanah untuk diusahakan dengan tanaman seperti cili dan sebagainya dengan hasil pendapatan tersebut dibawa semula kepada koperasi.

Katanya, usaha itu tidak akan terhenti di situ dan berikrar sekiranya diberi peluang sekali lagi untuk menjadi wakil rakyat DUN Paya Jaras beliau akan terus memperjuangkan isu tersebut.

“Penambahbaikan infrastruktur sekolah akan sentiasa diteruskan menerusi dana kerajaan namun kebajikan sekolah agama akan diberi fokus lebih,” katanya.

Ditanya mengenai isu banjir dan perparitan di kampung tradisi di Paya Jaras, Mohd Khairuddin menjelaskan pihaknya berdepan beberapa isu antaranya masih ada kampung yang berbentuk ‘parit Jepun’ yang mana ia tidak tercantum dengan sungai.

“Isu ini agak mencabar kerana saliran yang mahu ditarik ke sungai perlu melalui tanah milik orang dan sekiranya pemilik tanah tidak beri kebenaran, ia menyukarkan proses (penambahbaikan),” katanya.
